Director Patterson Visit

Gorges state park an “ICON”

We had a very special visit with Director Patterson in mid August. We are so appreciative of your support and the director’s candor with regards to his vision of the future

After a day spent touring the park, Director Patterson joined with many of Transylvania County’s leaders in the outdoor industry to talk about North Carolina State Parks. It was a a wonderful opportunity to hear budget updates, division goals including increasing efficiencies across the parks, and the director’s impression of Gorges.

Director Patterson called the park an “icon” for conservation and his Deputy Director of Planning and Natural Resources Brian Strong said the campground will allow people to really immerse themselves in the park. We talked about the new camper cabins and efforts for the entire department to be more inclusive.

We talked about lots of different things but walked away more excited than ever to be a part of the future of N.C. State Parks!

What an honor it was to host these state leaders!

This event was part of our Experience Gorges series and would not be possible without the generous support of our dear friends at the North Carolina Friends of State Parks.
