Please join us in celebrating the launch of Historic Toxaway! You won’t find us on any map, but you will find a section of western North Carolina that is coming together to promote our rich history, to spread the word about the beauty and potential of the area, and to encourage residents and visitors alike to appreciate the quality and variety of this area’s goods and services.
With Gorges State Park as host, the Friends of Gorges State Park is joining in the celebration by arranging for one of the most notable storytellers in the country, Connie Regan-Blake, to present her special talent in our Visitors Center on Sunday, June 10. Connie will be performing at 1 PM and again at 3 PM in the Visitors Center Auditorium. Both as a solo artist and a member of the acclaimed Folktellers duo, Connie has been featured on seven award-winning recordings: five audio and two videos produced by PBS. New Age Magazine, School Library Journal, and Southern Living all have praised her work. She has been a guest on NPR’s All Things Considered, ABC’s Good Morning America and CNN.
Seating is first-come/first-served so please plan to arrive early for your choice of time. There is no admission fee of this special event and it is family-friendly
